POAC Holiday Closure and Service Availability

The POAC team will be taking a well-deserved break over the Christmas period. Our office will close at 3 pm on Monday, 23rd December 2024, and we will return to full capacity on Monday, 6th January 2025.

Service Availability During the Holiday Period:

• Urgent Residential Care and Home Support Services:
  These services remain available as normal with no changes to the process.

• Acute X-ray: No changes—available as usual.

• Acute USS / CT: Availability is limited to the following:

  • DVT USS

  • CT KUB

  • Upper Abdominal USS for RUQ Pain

  • Pelvic USS for suspected ectopic pregnancy (requires gynae endorsement; referral to ED must occur if the scan is unavailable on the same day).

  Note Obstetric scans: These may be discussed directly with radiology for potential cancellations.

Important Notes:

• Community USS and CT scans will be unavailable over public holidays and weekends.

• Minimal acute radiology sites will operate on 27th, 30th, 31st December and 3rd January.

• Patients must not be discharged until a booking is confirmed, or alternative clinical management is arranged.

Urgent Care Clinics:
A list of Urgent Care Clinics and their opening hours can be found on Healthpoint.

All other POAC services:
These will be provided as normal during this period.
