Cervical Screening Important Changes To Claiming

Key Changes Effective 1st July 2024:


Removal of After-Hours Fee:

Starting 1st July, the accessible after-hours fee for cervical screening services will be removed. This change aims to streamline the fee structure and ensure consistency across service hours.


Increase in Cervical Screening Service Rates:

There will be an increase in the rates for cervical screening services. The exact new rates are currently under review by the national team, and we expect to receive confirmation later this week. We will update the POAC website and claiming system with these new rates, once confirmed.


Transition of Claiming Process:

Until 30th September 2024: Claims for cervical screening services should continue to be submitted through POAC.

From 1st October 2024: All cervical screening claims will transition to be processed via PHO contracts. This change aligns with the national contracting framework and is designed to enhance the efficiency and consistency of the claims process.


Important Claim Submission Deadline:

Please remember that claims for services provided must be received by the 20th of the month following the service provided.  All claims for period ending 30 September MUST be submitted no later than 20th October 2024.
